The Official Blues Brothers Revue comes to Pittsburg State University’s Bicknell Family Center for the Arts on Monday, Nov. 7. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Linda & Lee Scott Performance Hall.
The duo, made up of Kieron Lafferty and Wayne Catania, carry on the tradition of the original Blues Brothers, created by Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi on “Saturday Night Live” in 1978 and immortalized in the 1980 film of the same name.
Lafferty and Catania were handpicked by Aykroyd; Belushi’s widow, Judith Belushi Pisano; and Paul Shaffer, the original Blues Brothers musical director to create the Blues Brothers Revue. Judith Belushi said the revue is much more than an imitation of the original act.
“Kieron and Wayne are not imitators, they live the music and embody the characters,” Judith Belushi said. “They understand the spirit of The Blues Brothers and revel in the joy of being Jake and Elwood.”
As Jake and Elwood Blues, Lafferty and Catania are backed by the all-star Intercontinental Rhythm and Blues Band in an interactive multimedia production.
Tickets for the Blues Brothers Revue range from $30-$40 and are available at the PSU Ticket Office, 1701 S. Homer, 620-235-4796, or online, www.pittstate.edu/tickets. Discounts are available for PSU students, faculty and staff with valid ID.
