Position Responsibilities: Pittsburg State University, is accepting applications for a one-year position with the responsibilities to engage local, regional and state-located industries to develop relationships and cooperative ventures between faculty/staff/research centers found on PSU’s campus. This successful candidate for this position should have the ability to both determine the current capabilities of PSU personnel / centers and then match those capabilities to the needs of organizations in the region and state. The successful candidate will work closely with the Kansas Polymer Research Center, the Colleges of Technology, Arts and Sciences, and Business. The successful candidate for this position will also work with economic development personnel at the state level as well as within a network of other innovation/engagement officers on other Kansas University campuses. They will be expected to establish or enhance relationships with the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Kansas organization of MAMTC, small business development centers and other state located economic development organizations. A willingness to travel throughout the region is expected.
Minimum Requirements: An ideal candidate will: • Have a Masters in a field related to business, technology, engineering, or the sciences. Have business, research, or industrial experience, and current knowledge that supports business development. • Have experience in collaborative work, team building, and supporting innovative processes. • A demonstrated desire or willingness to reach across boundaries in complex organizations to develop multidisciplinary solutions to problem. • Have had contract development/negotiation/licensing experience. • Have program/contract assessment/administration experience. • Have a record of successful work experience with local/regional/state agencies for economic development.
