Assistant Professor - Engineering Technology

Position Responsibilities: The successful candidate for this position will be expected to: 1) teach undergraduate and graduate engineering technology courses (lecture, laboratory, and on-line), 2) advise and recruit students, 3) serve as an advisor and mentor to student professional organizations, 4) pursue scholarly, grant, private funding, and applied research activities, 5) assist with program fund-raising, off-campus/online courses, workshops and seminars. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work with industry and demonstrate competency in applying “real-world” solutions to industrial challenges.

Minimum Requirements: Have a Doctorate (preferred) or a Masters in the field of mechanical engineering technology or mechanical engineering. Candidates with professional certifications/registration, and a Masters will be considered. Have industrial experience, professional practice, and technologically current knowledge that support the field of instruction (minimum 3 years preferred). Demonstrate competence in a broad mechanical curriculum - Computer Aided Design, Solid Mechanics, Mechanical Design, Fluid Mechanics/Power, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics. Have experience in a variety of software (Solidworks, CATIA, ProE, FEA, Microsoft Office). Have a strong record of working on a team. Have the ability and willingness to teach in the Mechanical as well as other Department programs, Electronics, Manufacturing, and Plastics. Have higher education teaching experience and experience in student mentoring, advising and counseling. Have a record of professional development. The overall qualification of candidates will be evaluated by the following: education, diversity of background, engineering/technology industry experience, teaching experience, ability to communicate, enthusiasm for developing more effective programs/curricula, level of scholarship, participation in professional societies, registrations/licenses, scholarly activities.
