Position Responsibilities: This position will have the responsibility of overseeing/managing the daily operations of the campus swimming pool located at the Weede Athletics facility and any future aquatic related facilities that may arrive on campus. Facility & Risk management • Keep the water chemically balanced to meet local, state and federal safety guidelines. • Check, maintain and do basic repairs to the mechanical systems related to the chemical control and filtration system of the pool. • Keep the pool clean via all means of cleaning, vacuuming, servicing and troubleshooting submergible robot cleaner. • Ensure sure deck area is free of any items/obstacles that could cause injury to patrons and staff. • Create, implement and maintain a risk management plan and emergency policies and procedures. • Schedule the pool for academic, PSU student groups, athletics, and informal use. Serve as liaison to the community and work with them on any requests for special events. • Be a first responder for emergency situations and providing proper care in these situations; provide customer service; resolve conflicts; make decisions and judgements regarding facility usage. Staffing and Human Resources: • Recruit, interview, hire, train, schedule, and evaluate the performance and effectiveness of 15+ student employees and part-time employees. These part time employees serve as aqua class instructors, swim instructors and lifeguards. • Daily supervision and development of student staff. • Plan and schedule bi-monthly in-services for the lifeguards to make sure they are staying current on their life saving abilities and processes in place for emergencies to make the pool a safe environment. • Serve as lifeguard on duty as needed to make sure bather to lifeguard ratios are met. Programming and Special Events. • Manage and improve the swimming lessons program. • Create and develop other programs that can help improve our services to PSU students, staff and local community. • Handle case and accept payment via our fusion software program for all aquatic fee based programs, events and rentals. • Program the facility at non peek times and on weekends with income generations events. • Work collaboratively with various campus units (Student Activities and Organizations, Greek Affairs, Co-Operatives, University Housing, Academics, Athletics) to provide and promote safe and active programs. Other Duties: • Work collaboratively with other members of the division staff to conduct special events and programs for the campus and local community. • Make recommendation to the Director regarding the approximate $45,000 employee staffing and operations budget. Order, inventory, inspect, and maintain aquatics equipment, working with other staff and vendors as necessary to complete routine repairs and purchases and needed. • Assist on divisional planning, policy development, implementation, and evaluation. Assist the Director in the performance of non-scheduled work assignments and serve on assigned divisional and university committees. • Perform other duties as assigned or necessary to ensure the success and optimal operation of the aquatics facilities on campus.

Minimum Requirements: B.S. in Recreation, PE, Sport Sciences or like degree, B.S. in Administration or HR, or minimum of 3 years documented experience as a pool manger/supervisor in the aquatics field. (Graduate Assistantships can be used as time in field). 3 years lifeguarding. Water Safety Instructor (WSI). Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) and or Certified Pool Operator (CPO).

Preferred Qualifications: Lifeguard Instructor. First Aid/CPR/AED instructor.
