Language Tables:

Spend a lunch hour speaking Spanish or French in the Gorilla Crossing. Look for the Spanish table on Mondays from 12 to1 and the French table on Wednesdays from 12 to 1. For more information contact the Modern Languages & Literatures department, 235-4709.

A program to assist new international students with their transition to PSU and Pittsburg by PAIRING them with a domestic student. This is an opportunity to learn about other languages & cultures.

Conversation partners

Become a conversation partner with one of PSU intensive English students that are here at PSU to learn English. For more information contact IEP (Intensive English Program) Whitesitt 120, 620-235-4644.     

Get involved in an internationally focused student club

Student organizations such as the Chinese Culture Club, the Korean Student Association, the Indian Student Association, and the International Student Association welcome members of any nationality interested in learning more about their cultures and participating in their activities. SGA keeps a current list of organizations and their presidents, and some are highlighted here.

Global Leadership Institute

The Global Leadership Institute offers students a chance to work in a multi-cultural environment to gain skills in cross cultural communication, conflict negotiation, and global activism. 

Activities, Events & Lectures:

International Gatherings:

There are three gatherings each semester that highlight a cultural presentation by PSU students focusing on their home country. Enjoy a free meal and good conversation. These events are Friday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30, usually in Grubbs. For exact dates watch the university calendar.

International Education Week:

There will be events during a week in November which is International Education week celebrated all over the U.S. Look for events on the University calendar or the IKE Calendar tab in Canvas.

If you are enrolled in IKE check the calendar in Canvas or check the university calendar for internationally focused events. Also, if you find an internationally focused event outside of PSU you are welcome to submit an essay through Canvas for approval for IKE credit.
