Admission to the Teacher Education Program at Pittsburg State University requires successful completion of a Basic Skills requirement. Students who receive a 24 or higher on the ACT or a score of 1730 or greater on the SAT have fulfilled this obligation. Others will need to choose between the Core Academic Skills for Educators (CORE) and the College Base Test.
The CORE assessments measure competency in reading, writing, and mathematics skills. The CORE required scores are:

College-Base (C-Base) Examination Dates:
Registration for the C-Base must be completed in person at the Testing Center, 206B Whitesitt Hall. The cost is $55.00 and is payable by cash or check only. Testing Center hours may be obtained by calling 620-235-4267.

All workshops are the same and consist of the following: a practice test, review of responses, and a review of general test-taking strategies.
Please sign up for the workshops in advance to ensure that the appropriate amount of materials are available. A sign-up sheet is posted outside of 110C Hughes Hall.
