The SSRM emphasis in the Bachelor of Integrated Studies is designed to offer students an opportunity to develop interdisciplinary skills in biology, communication, geography and social sciences that are required for effective resource management in today's complex world.  Those completing the emphasis will be equipped to work in a variety of agencies, organizations and industries that impact or have responsibility for protection and management of resources.

The standard general education requirements, which have been amended so as to take into account those general education courses which have been included in the program, can be viewed from the BIS homepage.

General

At the top of the list for each Department, the preferred General Education course from that Department is identified for this program.  Although it is listed, the hours are indicated as 0 and not included in the credit hour count for that emphasis area as they are counted in the General Education requirement.

Biology

Biology lists 24 hours from which a student could select their base of 15 credit hours.  They may take additional courses in their list as part of their electives.  In addition to the chair, Dr. Smith, Dr. Triplett has agreed to work with the program.

Communication

Communication also lists 24 hours, from which a student could select their base 15.  That does not preclude them from taking the additional courses in the list as part of their electives.  In addition to Dr. Cynthia Allan, the Chair, Dr. Alicia Mason has agreed to work with the program.

Social Sciences

Their listing also includes options, but within two primary categories, Environmental Geography and Legal/Ethical.  In addition to the Chair, Dr. Mike Kelly, Dr. Tim Bailey, Dr. Darren Botello-Samson and Dr. Catherine Hooey have agreed to work with the program.
