Commencement is a special celebration, filled with tradition and symbolism to commemorate your academic accomplishments at Pittsburg State University.
Complimentary ShuttleA complimentary Gorilla shuttle will be stationed at the College of Technology and Brown parking lots beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 11, and at 8:15 on Saturday, May 12. The service will use the “Gorilla Walk” and transport those who may have ambulatory or health concerns. The Gorilla Shuttle will stop service 30 minutes following the final ceremony.
Family and Guest ActivitiesWe have no limit on the number of guests a student may invite to attend their graduation ceremony. Adequate seating will be available. No tickets are needed for your guests. You and your family and friends are invited to join in your commencement celebration by personally ringing the Centennial Bell located at the southwest corner of Axe Library. The Centennial Bell will be available for ringing from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., Friday, May 11th and 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 12th.U.S. Army ROTC Commissioning Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, at the Veterans Memorial Amphitheater located on Rouse Street. Rain location will be Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

Accommodations for Special Needs
Handicapped accommodationHandicapped parking will be available on the north side of the Weede Building. Graduating students in wheelchairs or those who need special accommodations at Commencement should contact the Registrar's Office at 620-235-4206. Designated seating is available in the arena for our guests who need accommodations. Ushers will available to help with seating. Doors are open for seating approximately 30 minutes prior to each ceremony. A drop off area will be made available at the west entrance (northbound traffic lane) of the Weede Physical Education Building.
Safety Preparedness for Commencement ExercisesIn accordance with the Kansas State Fire Marshall regulations, we request that you take a moment to identify the two emergency exits closest to you as you arrive at the Weede Physical Education building. In case of emergency, pay close attention to the announcer for important safety information. University Police will be available. Contact 620-235-4624 in case of emergency.
