Group Campus Visits

The Pittsburg State Admission Office is pleased to host campus visits geared toward groups of college-bound students.  Group visits are a great way for students to experience our student-friendly campus and learn more about both academic and co-curricular opportunities available at Pitt State.  Please read the information below to learn more about our group visit opportunities and for scheduling instructions.

General Guidelines

Groups planning to visit should follow these guidelines:

Group visits are intended for groups of six or more students.

  • Reservations should be made at least four weeks in advance.
  • Groups must provide at least one chaperone for every 15 students.
  • To get the most out of a visit, students are expected to be attentive and courteous while on campus.
  • We regret that Pittsburg State University is NOT able to cover the cost of meals.
  • Please no more than 100 students per group.

Visit Dates

To schedule your group visit, please contact the Admission Office at 1-800-854-7488.  Groups will be asked to complete and return the Group Visit Scheduling Form before a date is confirmed.

Visits are generally 2 hours, but can vary depending on scheduled activities, and are offered on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9am-2pm.  Reservations for visits are required and visit days do fill quickly.  Depending on time of year, some requested activities may not be possible due to limited Faculty/Staff on campus.

We recommend that you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your visit.  Please keep in mind that a visit agenda cannot be guaranteed for groups that arrive more than 15 minutes late.

When scheduling your visit, please indicate the agenda items below that you would like included in your visit.

Group Visit Agenda

  • Pittsburg State University Informational Session

Our 45 minute informational session is led by an Admission staff member.  Your group will learn about the University’s admission criteria, majors offered, financial aid and scholarships, campus housing and student life.

  • Walking Tour of Campus

Led by a Pitt State student, the 45 minute walking tour of campus takes students in and around some of the most popular locations on campus.  Students are encouraged to dress comfortably and be prepared for forecasted weather conditions.

Optional Agenda Activities

  • Office of Student Diversity Informational Session
  • Visit with Academic Department (Up to two academic departments may be selected.  Students wishing to visit with academic departments individually must schedule an individual visit to campus.)
  • Tour of the Kansas Technology Center, home to the PSU College of Technology
  • Tour of the Student Recreation Center

Optional Dining Hall Meals

Having lunch in Gibson Dining Hall is a favorite part of any campus visit!  Dining hall meals are “all you care to eat” and include a wide variety of dishes.

Lunch is $6.25 per person. We regret that Pittsburg State University is NOT able to cover the cost of meals. To simplify the process, we ask that all group lunches be paid in one transaction.  Gibson Dining Hall accepts cash and credit cards.  We can also make arrangements for your group to be invoiced so that you may send a check.  Your group may also choose to bring bag lunches to eat around campus.
